Our suger-factorys are working in a average year nearly up to
the whole of December. In this late time
of the year, frost can demage the beets . Protecting
the beet-storage against frost with chopped
strow is well-tried in our region. To
protect a lorry load of beets (about 22 Tons) one big squer or
round bale is needed. The chopped strow is blown from an forage harvester
with an special device
over the storage. From the Farmer provided strow is taken with
an bale-fork an traktor with frond-
loader in the divce. The thread must be removed. Up to 20 bals can
be processed in one hour. The
procedure is carried out for may years and the separation of the frozen
or wet strow by loading the beets
with a mouse (special beet loading and cleaning equipment -> see other
sides of me) was no problem.
