 Von 9. bis zum
19. August findet in Straubing das Gäubodenvolksfest statt. Diese
Gruppe mit dem, von Ochsen gezogenen Pflug, beteidigte sich am festlichen
Auszug. Man könnte meinen, daß der Pflug im Straubinger Wappen
auf die Lage der Stadt im fruchtbaren Gäuboden verweist. Er ist aber
ein Symobl der Gerichtsbarkeit und man sagt, daß man die Todeskandidaten
bis zum Kopf in die Erde eingrub und sie dann mit diesem Pflug köpfte.
 From August the 9th to
19th take place the Straubing Gäuboden festival. This group with an
oxen fulled plow participate at the festive parade. Some one must thought,
that this plow, in the Straubing coat of arms, refer to the location of
the town in the fertile Danube plain (=Gäuboden). But he is a symbol
of the former jurisdiction. It is said, that peopel who are sentenced to
the dead, were buried into the soil so that only the head is looking out
and then they were beheaded with this plow.
