 Heute ist St. Nikolaus.
Er lebte um 400 n.Ch. in Myra, einer türkischen Küstenstadt.
Zu Ehren des mildtätigen Heiligen erbaute man eine Basilika. Die im
Bild zeigt man heute den Touristen. Sie stammt in ihren Ursprüngen
aus dem achten Jahrhundert. Warum steht sie in einer Grube? Die Erosion
hat rundum die Erde aufgeschüttet und die frühere Havenstadt
liegt dadurch heute kilometerweit von Meer erntfernt.
